Duncan Groves Joins PSTAX
LAVAT is pleased to announce the appointment of Duncan Groves as Head of Employment Taxes.
Duncan has specialised in employment taxes for the public sector since 1991. He was the founder member of the Chiltern Public Sector Tax team, growing it from scratch to a £2m+ business by the time he left in 2004. Duncan and his team, including our own Nick Burrows, enjoyed similar success while at RSM Bentley Jennison/RSM Tenon. More recently, Duncan took on the role of heading up Grant Thornton’s national public sector employment taxes offering. He joins us with 25 years’ experience working with local authorities, police and fire bodies and NHS Trusts.
Duncan’s arrival signals a change of philosophy for LAVAT as it moves towards a re-branding of the business to PSTAX, short for Public Sector Taxation. This re-branding reflects our move from providing local government clients with expert VAT services to providing expert all-tax services across the whole of the public sector.
Commenting on his appointment, Duncan said:
“I am delighted to be joining LAVAT, soon to be ‘PSTAX’. These are very exciting times for the business. There is huge potential to grow employment taxes as longstanding VAT clients realise that modern day needs require an all-taxes focus and that their trusted advisers of many years now have capacity as well as experience and credibility in this area.
LAVAT has the perfect business model for the public sector and is unique in offering specialist tax support that is entirely dedicated to, and focused on, the needs of public bodies. Added to this is a refreshingly open, collaborative and practical approach, with an objective always to provide clients with value for money. I look forward to working with clients, both old and new, and developing our quality based and cost-effective support.”
