Brexit after the Election
Tax changes for public bodies
Do you know what will change?
Are you ready to implement the changes?
After the election result it is now almost inevitable that Brexit will happen on 31 January 2020.
This Seminar will discuss what we know now and what we think might happen, and how this will affect you and your accounting procedures.
Having a VAT system is a condition of being in the EU and is now the preferred taxation method in almost all developed countries globally. Although the UK is leaving the EU, VAT will not be abolished here.
In principle once the UK has left the EU it will be free to impose its own VAT law, which could lead to changes to the existing legislation and policies. What will actually happen though, is uncertain and dependant on the final terms of the deal.
What is certain, though, is that there will be changes for organisations that trade with EU countries, resulting in numerous Brexit-related VAT implications. Public bodies are generally not internationally-trading organisations, but they do get involved in many international transactions, from small scale online purchases to high-value trade in specialist equipment.
This half-day Seminar will explain the definite changes that will be made to the UK VAT system after Brexit and discuss the other changes that are likely. It will also serve as a refresher for the rules for international services for non-EU countries.
Delegates will come away from the Seminar equipped to cope with whatever will be the post-Brexit VAT rules. After the seminar all attendees will receive an e-copy of the presentation with accompanying slide notes, which will be updated with any significant changes at regular intervals in the immediate period after 31 January.
