PSTAX Celebrates Double Shortlisting at the 2025 Tolley’s Taxation Awards

We’re proud to share that PSTAX was shortlisted for both Best VAT/Indirect Tax Team and Best Employment Taxes Team at this year’s Tolley’s Taxation Awards, held on Thursday 8 May at the Hilton Park Lane in London.
This marks the second consecutive year that both teams have been recognised by the judging panel – an incredible achievement that highlights the consistent excellence, innovation, and client-first approach that defines our work.
While we didn’t take home the trophies this year, to be shortlisted in our key categories once again is a moment of real pride for our whole firm. These awards celebrate the very best in the UK tax profession, and we’re honoured to stand shoulder to shoulder with such outstanding peers.
Our Employment Taxes Team, led by Angela Ferguson, has continued to set the bar high following last year’s win in the same category. The team has worked closely with local authorities and public sector bodies across the UK to manage complex employment tax issues, including IR35 Off Payroll Working, CIS, NMW and HMRC compliance, offering trusted insight and practical solutions at every step.
Meanwhile, our VAT and Indirect Taxes Team has been instrumental in helping public sector clients from local authorities, police, fire and rescue manage risk, improve compliance, and secure significant tax savings. The shortlisting is a true testament to the technical strength and collaborative ethos of the team.

Nick has nearly 30 years of working with and supporting public sector bodies with VAT and indirect taxes, starting at HM Customs and Excise and then as in-house VAT Officer at Hampshire County Council. Since moving to advisory firms, Nick has had senior public sector VAT roles at RSM Tenon (now RSM), KPMG, and PSTAX (since 2014). He has led VAT advice nationally on a wide range of public sector issues and helped shape HMRC policy in several key areas.
