PSTAX was founded under the name of LAVAT Consulting back in 2003 by our Founder, Peter Gladdish, to provide bespoke VAT consultancy to the public sector. His mission was to create a consultancy that he would wish to work for as an employee and one that he would wish to advise him if he was a client.
This ethos remains strong to this day.
Over the last 20 years, the team has grown from two consultants in the first year, to >25 staff offering a broad range of consultancy and training across Employment Taxes, VAT and SDLT. Before remote working was the norm, PSTAX operated a home-working set-up. At PSTAX we are proud of our flexible approach to working and our culture of trust, which enables our people to balance the demands of their lives with those of work. We have excellent staff retention with many of our colleagues surpassing a decade with us and our flexible approach is just one of many reasons for this!
PSTAX is boutique in size but national in reach and over 300 UK public bodies are subscribed to our fantastic ET and VAT helpline services. Since extending our public sector reach to NHS, Fire and Police we have worked on some high-profile VAT and Employment Tax cases and gained a reputation with HMRC as the go-to for public sector VAT and ET project process advice.
We welcome consultants from a variety of career backgrounds and believe that the combined knowledge of in-house, consultancy and HMRC roles allows us to offer a truly holistic approach to consultancy.
What can you expect from a role at PSTAX?
No two days are the same for a consultant at PSTAX; we vary our time between helpline, consultancy and project work providing scope for personal development across a range of tax disciplines
All our consultants are home-based. We have core hours but if you want to tailor your hours and working days around other commitments, we’re fine with that
Teamwork is key to our success. Although we work remotely, we’re always there for each other to bounce ideas off, and there is a feeling of friendship and support
This is central to our culture. We support one another to ensure the best service to the client and there is always more to learn
